We are so proud of Macee and Talon for successfully defending their theses and graduating. We will miss these two so much!
Macee conducted a series of field and laboratory studies evaluating the interactions between pesticides and the gut microbiome in honey bees. Macee's study was NSF-funded and in collaboration with researchers at Virginia Tech. She is a pro in the lab, a fun personality, and will be missed!
Talon investigated the interactions among tetrodotoxin, chytrid infection, and bacterial microbiomes in newt skin microecosystems. This was a highly-collaborative study with many labs across the country, including the Piovia-Scott and Woodhams labs. Talon is now pursuing a PhD with one of his co-authors from this study, Molly Bletz, at Penn State University as a BIOMS predoctoral fellow (BIOMS:The Biotechnological & Integrative Opportunities in Microbiome Sciences Training Program).
