We are so proud of Walke Lab GAANN Fellows, Hannah and Bailee, for completing their master's degrees!

Hannah studied "The Effects of Salinity on the Cutaneous Microbiome and Pathogen Infection on the Pacific Tree Frog (Pseudacris regilla) in Monterey Bay, California, USA”. While Hannah's research was based in California, she also spent plenty of time in the field working with amphibians in eastern Washington and in Costa Rica throughout her time at EWU. Hannah is now the Research and Community Engagement Coordinator at the San Diego Zoo in affiliation with Miami University's Advanced Inquiry Program.

Bailee completed a split-thesis, which is part science education research and part biological research. She was co-advised by sci ed pro Bo Idsardi and did an excellent job executing her two studies: "What Shapes Instruction in Course-based Undergraduate Research Experiences? & Spatial, Temporal, and Structural Drivers of Soil Microbial Communities in Regenerative Agricultural Systems”. The biology project was in collaboration with southern Oregon non-profit organization, Bee Regenerative. Bailee continues to combine her love of science and education as an instructor in the Biology Department at EWU!
